Victory Drill

This book has provided systematic phonics instruction and drills for over two generations. The book focuses on timed reading of word lists to increase the ability to sound out new words rapidly. This program works successfully alongside any curriculum. In grades 1-3, a ten-minute practice period each day is recommended.

The 150 Victory Drill Book Worksheets and answer pages are designed to give page by page practice in mastery of phonetic rules which govern pronounciation and the spelling of words. These worksheets have been created by teachers skilled in the teaching of reading. — Each worksheet page is designed to give students broader experience with comprehending new vocabulary, and to emphasize the sound or rule(s) taught on a VDB page. — Some VDB pages will have several worksheets per page. The varying levels of difficulty provide the teacher choice in meeting specific needs of individual students. This is a consumable workbook for beginning readers. It is designed to help the child learn to recognize, sound out, and write the basic letter sounds. This book could serve as remedial work for those weak in recognizing consonants and short vowel sounds.
