2nd edition. This is a set of 5 Light Units. Each Light Unit includes a test and two quizzes. Two or three lessons per week cover a full year’s work, or you may choose to cover the course in one semester. This course pairs with the Calls to Courage reader. It teaches reading and study skills. Students learn to build vocabulary, make inferences, identify the author’s purpose, analyze story elements, recognize literary techniques, work with fiction and nonfiction genres, examine the mechanics of poetry, and apply lessons from the stories. The teacher’s guide is an integral part of this course; you will need it to teach successfully.

2nd edition. This 6th grade reader has been updated with full-color artwork. Calls to Courage provides courageous examples for sixth graders to follow in selections centered around five themes: So Many Things to Learn, Contentment, Courage, In All Thy Ways, and Responsibility. Calls to Courage Teacher’s Guide
2nd edition. This teacher’s guide provides lesson plans, useful appendices, and alternate LightUnit tests. It includes answers for daily work, quizzes, and tests in reduced page format. The teacher is aided by sections for review, story introduction, and discussion questions for each story.
Changing Frontiers LightUnits 801-810 (tests & quizzes included)
This LightUnit study provides self-directed exercises, quizzes, reviews, self checks, and tests. The LightUnits tell which pages in the textbook to read before doing each lesson. They are designed for more independent study. Answer keys are required. Changing Frontiers Textbook (Grade 8)
History is what happened. But, what is recorded as history is not always what happened. Changing Frontiers attempts to look at United States history honestly and fairly. In this full-color text, students learn about pre-Columbus Americans, European discoverers, explorers, and colonists. They follow American history through the formation, growth, and struggle of the nation. Sidebars and extra info nuggets sharpen students’ understanding of history. Study and discussion questions conclude each section. For student work, choose either the LightUnit method of study or the Worksheet method. The LightUnits support more independent work, and the Worksheets require more teacher input and class interaction. 693 pages, hardcover.
