2nd edition. This is a set of 10 Light Units. Each Light Unit includes a test and two quizzes. This course teaches language, spelling, and penmanship. You will need a reference chart for each student, a teacher’s guide, and a set of answer keys to teach this course successfully. This edition includes planning and giving a speech, and it has a Light Unit devoted to a thorough research report. But you may feel a need to supply more writing lessons scattered throughout the year by using CLE’s book On Teaching Writing or by implementing some other writing program.

Diagnostic tests are used to place students in CLE curriculum. Tests 100-400 are for students in Grades 1-5. A student ready to enter grade 2 should be given the grade 1 test, a student ready to enter grade 3 should be given the grades 1 and 2 tests, and so on. (A student ready to enter grade 6 should take the grade 4 and grade 5 tests, so in that case you need both levels.) A teacher’s manual is also needed for testing.

This teacher’s book contains the directions for administering the test, the test answers, and information for scoring the test to indicate placement level. See the student book description for more information.
