This textbook presents what we understand about history in a colorful, succinct way that appeals to seventh graders’ growing realization of how complex our world and its people really are. — With plenty of maps and illustrations, this textbook teaches the course of Western civilization from the ancient Middle East to North America. A Going Global feature opens a window for students to glimpse cultures and empires from China and India to Africa and the Americas. Brief study and discussion questions conclude each section. — The textbook has ten units and a total of thirty chapters.

Africa, A Land of Hope Textbook
Colorful textbook. It is not intended to take the place of any social studies course but rather to be used as an interesting supplement. Students will read about the people, climate, culture, geography, and economy of Africa. There are a few map projects and other work pages at the back of the book, and lots of ideas for expanding the study. There are additional worksheets and resources available on the website, but this content has not been reviewed. There are some products which are not suitable for our schools.

Changing Frontiers Textbook (Grade 8)
History is what happened. But, what is recorded as history is not always what happened. Changing Frontiers attempts to look at United States history honestly and fairly. In this full-color text, students learn about pre-Columbus Americans, European discoverers, explorers, and colonists. They follow American history through the formation, growth, and struggle of the nation. Sidebars and extra info nuggets sharpen students’ understanding of history. Study and discussion questions conclude each section. For student work, choose either the LightUnit method of study or the Worksheet method. The LightUnits support more independent work, and the Worksheets require more teacher input and class interaction. 693 pages, hardcover. NOTE: At this point, a comprehensive teacher’s manual has not been completed. There is a textbook answer key available.
